“Dear Friends and Gentle Hearts…” is a new work inspired by the beloved music of the first great American composer, Stephen Foster, (Beautiful Dreamer, Oh! Susanna, De Campton Races) , Traditional Hymns, and autobiographical accounts written by pioneer women in the book Pioneer Women: Voices From the Kansas Frontier by Joanna L. Stratton. This heartfelt Dance-Drama recounts the journey of a Pioneer Family coping with life in the wilderness while celebrating the love and friendships developed through building community.
